GETTING FOUND, LAYER 5
Being the name the AI gives: how Google, ChatGPT and the rest decide who to recommend
The top layer is the one everybody asks about: how do I get ChatGPT to recommend me? The honest answer is that you do not get it to. You become the company whose sources agree, and it names you on its own. Here is how the answer is built, the one test to run tonight, and what happens the moment it works.
A note on what this is. Nobody at these companies takes a submission. There is no form and no fee. Anyone who sells you a way in is selling layers one to four with a different label, or nothing.
How the answer is built
When someone asks Google, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Perplexity who to call, the assistant does not know you. It reads. It reads your site if a machine can read it, your Google profile, your reviews, the listings, a YouTube video if one exists, and the threads where your name came up. Then it writes a sentence that repeats what those sources agree on.
If they agree, you get named, with the trade, the area and the language, because that is what the sources said. If they disagree, or one of them is silent, the assistant names a competitor whose sources agree. There is nothing else in the recipe.
The one test
Tonight, on your phone, ask each of them the question your last customer asked you. In a full sentence. "Who does AC repair in Hialeah and answers in Spanish." Then the same in Spanish. Write down who gets named, and which source the assistant mentions. Do it again next month. The trend is the number; a single read is noise.
- If you are named: note which source got you there and protect it.
- If a competitor is named: look at their reviews, their video and their listings. That is the layer you are missing.
- If nobody local is named: the category is open in your neighborhood. The first company with agreeing sources takes it.
THE ROBOTS LINE
Google AI Overviews and Gemini
Google's own answer at the top of the results is built the same way, from what Google already has: your profile, your reviews, your pages. This is where layer one matters most. A page Google has not stored cannot be in the answer. Run the site: check from layer one, and fix the listing before you fix anything else.
What does not work
Stuffing the words "best AC company in Miami" into every page. Buying reviews. A page that says you are recommended by AI. Forty neighborhood pages with the name swapped. Every one of these makes the sources disagree with each other, and disagreement is the one thing that removes you from the answer.
The sixty seconds after
Here is the layer nobody draws on the map. The assistant names you. The customer calls. The call rings out because you are under a house. The customer asks the assistant for the next name. Every layer above ends in a phone ringing, and the answer is only worth what happens in the next minute.
A text back within a minute, in the language of the call, with a real way to book, is the sixth layer. It is the only one that happens after you have already been found, and the only one that turns being named into a job. Getting found is the map. Answering is the truck showing up.
Run the test tonight. It takes ten minutes and it tells you which of the four layers below to fix first.
Questions we get asked about this
Can I pay to be recommended by ChatGPT or Google AI?
No. There is no submission and no fee. The answer is assembled from your site, your profile, your reviews, your video and the places your name comes up. Anyone selling a shortcut is selling those, or nothing.
How often should I run the test?
Monthly, with the same questions, in both languages. Write down who is named and from which source. One read tells you little; three months tells you which layer is working.
What does YaContesta.pro do in this layer?
The part after it. When the assistant names you and the call comes in, it texts back within a minute in the caller's language, books the visit, and asks for the review after the job. It does not get you named; the four layers below do.
