JOB BOARD
The board that replaces the notebook on the dash
Every trade company has the notebook. It lives on the dash of the owner's truck, and it is the only record of which Sweetwater calls came in this week, who was quoted, and who is waiting. When the owner is on a roof, the notebook is on a roof. The office is guessing.
A note on what this is. It is a description of one screen. Not a promise that a screen fixes a shop; it fixes the question "where does that job stand?"
The question the notebook cannot answer
"Where does the Ruiz job stand?" To answer it from the notebook you need the owner, the truck and a phone call. To answer it from the tech you need the tech, who may not know the office already sent the quote. To answer it from the board you need to look at the board.
What is on it
- One card per call. Name, address, phone, language, what they need, how they found you.
- One column per step. New, texted back, booked, quoted, approved, done. Your steps, not ours.
- A card moves when something happens. The tech taps "done" on site; the office drags "quoted" to "approved."
- A card that has sat in a column too long changes color. Three days at "quoted" with no follow-up is orange.
- The whole text and call history is one tap away, on the card.

What the tech sees
Only his own jobs, on his phone. Today's stops, the address, the notes, the customer's language. He can move his own card and add a note. He cannot see the whole company's quotes, and he does not need to.
What it does not do
It does not dispatch trucks, do payroll, or replace Jobber if you are on Jobber. It is the front of the business: from the call to the booked job. Once a job is booked, if you already run it in dispatch software, keep running it there.
The columns come pre-built for each trade. Most companies rename one or two and leave the rest.
Questions we get asked about this
Can I have different boards for different kinds of work?
Yes. Service calls and quoted jobs usually get their own. Same inbox, same customer records.
Does it work on the tech's phone?
Yes. He sees his jobs, taps done, adds a note. The office sees the change the moment he taps.
What happens to the notebook?
Most owners keep it for a month out of habit and then stop opening it.

Bring the notebook
Bring last week's page from the notebook to a 30-minute call. We put those calls on a board in front of you and you tell us if it answers the question.
